NRMP Statement on Public Allegations of Bias and Discrimination in the Match Process

February 18, 2021

The National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP®) has become aware of concerning public allegations that an institution has conducted its affairs in a fashion that introduced bias and discrimination into the process of residency or fellowship applicant selection. The NRMP takes such allegations seriously.

The NRMP is committed to its mission and responsibility to provide a matching process that is fair, efficient, transparent, and reliable, and maintains the highest level of professional standards of conduct. The NRMP has contacted the institution and inquired as to the allegations made against it and whether any such actions were performed in connection with the NRMP’s matching process. The NRMP is awaiting a response and will act in a manner it deems appropriate upon receiving one.
