If you are a graduate of a U.S. allopathic, U.S. osteopathic, or Canadian medical school or a student/graduate of a Fifth Pathway program and your Verification Status indicates NOT VERIFIED, your medical school has not yet determined that you will be eligible to enter graduate medical education programs on July 1 in the year of the Main Residency Match®. Your medical school has until the Rank Order List Deadline to verify your Verification Status.
Yes. The Match Participation Agreement for Applicants and Programs requires programs to provide complete, timely, and accurate information to interviewees, including a copy of the contract the applicant will be expected to sign if matched to the program and the institution's policies on visa status and eligibility for appointment. The information must be communicated to interviewees prior to the Rank Order List Certification Deadline. Recognizing that many appointment contracts are lengthy and that others may not contain all of the institution's relevant policies, an acceptable alternative is to post the contract and policies on the institution's website and notify interviewees where the information may be found. The signed acknowledgment should include a statement that the interviewee was notified that the information is posted on the institution’s website.
NRMP policy states that if any of an institution's programs participate in the Main Residency Match, all of the institution's programs must offer positions to U.S. MD and U.S. DO senior students through the Main Residency Match or another national matching plan. Offering a position outside the Main Residency Match is a violation of the Match Participation Agreement for the program. Such occurrences should be reported to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applicants cannot apply for, discuss, interview for, or accept a position through another national match plan or by agreement outside of the Match after the Rank Order List Deadline.
Section 2.1 of the Match Participation Agreement states that applicants must meet ACGME® and institutional requirements prior to the start of training in order to be eligible for the position. If you learn you are ineligible to honor your binding commitment, you must immediately notify the NRMP in writing so that the NRMPcan determine whether you and/or the program qualify for a waiver. You also must request a waiver if you are ineligible to honor a position you obtained during the Match Week Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program® as a result of your delayed graduation status.

No. You may volunteer information about where you have applied and how you plan to rank programs, but programs CANNOT ask you to disclose the information. Any program that asks an applicant to disclose names, specialties, geographic location, or other identifying information about programs to which an applicant has or may apply is in violation of NRMP policy. If this happens to you, report the matter to the NRMP at (202) 400-2235 or at email@example.com.
No. The NRMP ID field is in the Personal Information section of MyERAS and can be added at any time. However, you should return to your MyERAS profile and enter your NRMP ID once you have registered for a Match and received your NRMP ID.
To register for the Main Residency Match®, you must provide the AAMC® ID number from your MyERAS application.
To register for the Specialties Matching Service® (Fellowship) Matches, an AAMC ID is not required but it is recommended. Including an AAMC ID in your Fellowship Match registration will make it easier for programs to rank you in the NRMP Registration, Ranking, and Results® (R3®) system.
Email is the primary mode of communication used by NRMP, so you need to keep email current in the Registration, Ranking, and Results® (R3®) system. Some email providers use filters to ensure that users do not receive spam (junk e-mail). In some cases, those filters can prevent NRMP emails from getting through. Our email address, firstname.lastname@example.org should be added to your personal contact, address book, "Safe," or "People I Know" list.
If you are not receiving email from NRMP and your provider does not offer such options, we recommend that you either contact your provider to determine the best way to access such messages or consider using an additional or replacement provider during your matching process for your primary email address.
